This web site is dedicated to the purpose of distributing educational materials that help Biblical readers understand the literary structure of what they are reading.

Sermons that follow Biblical texts are absolutely appropriate, as the inspired Biblical author had something they wanted to communicate. Thus exegetical preaching recognizes this principle, and develops messages around what the Biblical author intended. Congregations are well served by pastors who do this.

However, there is also a larger structure of the text which it is more difficult to communicate in large congregational worship settings. For one thing, it would involve page flipping or otherwise bouncing around in the text, whether it be a printed Bible or electronic media. Yet clearly, each Scripture has an overall structure, and knowing that helps to comprehend the whole book. More than this, God clearly had a larger plan for the whole Bible when He inspired the Scriptures!

Therefore, this website will attempt to help fill this gap by providing materials which will help you see the larger connectivity in the flow of the Bible.

About the tree images

Trees are awesome! In the Scriptures trees are a common image and are often used as a metaphor for other things. Books have been written on the subject, and elsewhere this webpage might eventually point to books I own and have found helpful. Trees and tree branches against the sky are a beautiful sight, but they are also a reminder of the cross of Christ. Trees can also indicate to us of a much better future when we will see the healing of the nations.
